When including read aloud books in the upper elementary, do teachers usually have multiple copies of the book for students to follow along, or do you just read from one book, with students quietly listening?

I remember when I was in elementary we had copies of the books as students. Granted some of them the school couldn’t supply to us, so we listened along quietly. Most of them were supplied to us though, I just feel there is something productive about them following along in the book!

Depends on the grade level and the book in Crawford. Sometimes each child gets a book and other times only the teacher has the book.

I think that it can go both ways. If there is a class set and it is for older grades it could highly benefit the students to read along. In most of my classes my teacher just read to us.

I know that in Newcastle the younger elementary students only have one copy of the book and the teacher reads it aloud and the students sit quietly; but once you hit high school there is a book for every student to follow along while the teacher reads or listens to the audio.

In elementary, I typically see teachers reading one copy with students listening. In high school, I typically see multiple copies.
